Business Registration Fees Updated
The Office of Administrator and Registrar General (OARG) has updated business registration fees effective 1 January 2025. Limited company registration: Le 250,000 (no change). Sole proprietorship: Le 100,000 (reduced from Le 150,000). Partnership: Le 150,000 (reduced from Le 200,000).
Land Registry Digitisation — Phase 2
Phase 2 of the National Land Registry digitisation programme is now underway covering Bo, Kenema, and Makeni districts. Citizens can now search land titles and submit transfer applications online through GOV.SL. Phase 1 (Western Area) has processed over 12,000 digital land records.
National ID Card Rollout — Western Area
The National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) begins issuing the new biometric National ID cards in Western Area Urban and Rural districts. All citizens aged 18 and above are encouraged to register. Registration centres are located in all ward offices. No fee for first-time registration.
GST Return Filing Deadline Extended to March 31
The NRA Commissioner General has extended the deadline for Q3 2024 GST return filing from 15 October to 31 March 2025 for businesses affected by the recent flooding in the Western Area. Affected businesses must apply for the extension through the NRA portal.
GOV.SL Platform Security Update
The GOV.SL digital government platform has been upgraded with enhanced security features including multi-factor authentication, advanced fraud detection powered by Vertex AI, and real-time transaction monitoring. All users are encouraged to enable MFA on their accounts.
Mining License Application Process Simplified
The National Minerals Agency (NMA) has streamlined the mining license application process. Artisanal mining licenses can now be obtained within 5 working days through GOV.SL. Small-scale and large-scale applications have been reduced from 90 days to 30 days.
Flood Emergency — Western Area District
Due to severe flooding in Western Area, the government has activated emergency response protocols. Affected residents should report to designated relief centres. Emergency hotline: 117. Tax filing deadlines for affected areas have been extended.
Public Service Recruitment Drive 2024
The Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) announces recruitment for 500 positions across government MDAs including IT specialists, accountants, and administrative officers. Applications open until 30 September 2024 through the GOV.SL portal.
